Jack's Birthday Pictures

This will be a long series of several pictures. This is at the request of my Auntie Kim that I post all I took on Jack's big day and party here at home with just us. His big family birthday will be this weekend at Mawmaw's house....this is how his day went

Jack checking the decorations out the morning of his party. We hung streamers and balloons and there were a few other dino decorations...
Jack having breakfast in his birthday chair complete with balloons...

The lopsided cookie cake that I made and decorated .... doesn't that dino look mean?
Jack and Allison at the dam. We took our lunch to the dam here and had a picnic. It was chilly, but we had a good time and then played at the park.

Jack playing on the slide...

Allison had a bad hair day and she was holding it back so you could see her face!

I guess because it was cloudy none of my fall pictures look bright, but the trees that still had leaves were really pretty.... you just can not tell it from these pictures :O0

Another fall shot, but as you can tell we had the whole place to ourselves...

We had dinner at Jacks favorite restaurant "Fudruckers" then home for the official I am three candle blowing stuff....

Jack & Me looking over some of his gifts...

Lindsey and Jack playing with his favorite gift of the night....play doh. He got a big kit with tools and has been playing ever since ... he loves play doh...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Monday, November 10, 2008

Outside my window... I am watching the wind blow the beautiful leaves off the trees. It is bright and sunny and if it warms up enough I plan on taking Allison and Jack for a walk in the woods.

I am thinking... About the movie I watched last night ... "Facing the Giants" I can not begin to tell you how wonderful this movie was. If you have not seen it, it would be a wonderful family night movie!!

I am thankful for... my family, my ability to stay home with my children, and the beautiful sunshine.

From the learning rooms... We are going to try mixing up the science with the Botany & Abeka's Science for 4th grade this week! Moving into 2 digit multiplication, and hopefully finishing up our book "Caleb's Story" so that we can write our book report next week.

From the kitchen... The smell of pancakes that we had for breakfast.

I am wearing... Jeans, light blue long sleeve T-shirt, socks, and my red crocs :O)

I am creating... still working on Christmas ornaments. I did finish Jack's no tie fleece blanket see my other post for that.

I am going... to the library with Allison this afternoon.

I am reading... Nothing until after Christmas ... if I pick up a book I have to read it every free moment and I have too many things to accomplish between now and then!

I am hoping... Jack has a wonderful birthday Tuesday!!, Jonathan has a safe business trip to Tampa later this week!!

I am hearing... Christmas Music, children laughing, the dishwasher.

Around the house... Cleaning Cleaning Cleaning, Need to purge the kids unused toys, assist Allison this week in cleaning her room and encourage Lindsey to clean her room and bathroom. Laundry is actually caught up as well as my ironing and I am feeling pretty proud about it :O)

One of my favorite things... My husbands big grey comfy pull over that he has gifted me ... since I keep wearing it!!

A few plans for the rest of the week: Cook Jack's cookie cake for his birthday Tuesday, Wrap his gifts, Make turkeys with our hand and feet with Allison and Jack. Keep working on our Tree of Thanks.

Here is picture thought I am sharing... Jack and Allison in there blanket club house.. what fun!!

Our Thanksgiving Tree

Our Thanksgiving Tree or Our Tree of Thanks

I was asked the question of what a Thanksgiving tree is. SO let me explain ... as a way of having my children look at what is most important to them and what they are thankful for I have created a Tree of Thanks.
I simply cut from 2 sheets of post board a tree trunk and branches. Then we colored the tree. Next I cut out leaves in fall colors, red, yellow, and orange. Each day we write what we are thankful for. I did not get this started until the 6th, but my original plan was to do it from the 1st of November until Thanksgiving when I plan for us as a family to re-read what we are thankful for.

NO Computer this week!!!

Sometimes I feel like I spend too much time plugged into the computer! So this week I have decided to try to stay off the computer completely. That's right cold turkey!! I have so much to do this week and Jonathan is going out of town Wednesday AM so it will be me holding down the home front! I have several post scheduled for this week, so keep checking back, but I will not be responding to emails or comments until Sunday, and hopefully then I can set my post for the next week and see how this goes. I hope everyone has a great week!!!

A busy Saturday

This weekend my children were at Grandma's house so I got busy....

I have painted Jack's room so that he now has a Cars themed BIG BOYS room since he turns 3 on Tuesday!!! I will include pictures once we get the toddler bed out of the bedroom.

Then I did some pre-Christmas looking at some local stores ...all by myself :OP

Finally I got another Christmas present made. Jack's Thomas the Train NO-SEW blanket. I am very proud of it. This one only took me 45 min compared to the 2 hours the first one took for my niece Riley. You can get directions for the no sew fleece blanket HERE!! Here is Jack's blanket.....

Letter from the President

Back in early September we were practicing our letter writing skills, and Allison wanted to write a letter to the President of the United States regarding her view on endangered animals. Well Allison wrote her letter and addressed the envelope and we mailed it. I assumed we would never receive any type of response. Allison however would ask daily has my letter come yet. I explained to her that the President was too busy to write back to everyone who wrote to him, but I was sure he read the letter!! So she stopped asking if her letter was here yet....So imagine my surprise when she came bounding up the stairs hollering I GOT MY LETTER!!! She is still talking in this picture!!! She is so proud and she should be, not only did the President read her letter but he responded. Mom was wrong :O) .... and I am very glad that I was!!

Wordless Wednesday

I know Lindsey's picture is not on my blog often. That is because she is a busy teenage and rarely home, but this past weekend she stayed home with Allison and played beauty shop. This is sister love at its best. First Allison got her hair straightened, then the makeup Artist (Lindsey) did her makeup. Then they played model with the camera. Enjoy my silly girls!
Gotta love those silly girls!! They grow too fast!!!

Vote times Here

It literally took me 20 min total to vote. That includes the time it took to drive from my house to the polls ... we do live close but still the point is there was NO LINE!!!

It was 8:15 AM when I went and the polling ladies said they were still waiting for the rush. So GO NOW!!! There is NO LINE!!!!!

Please....

Saturday Happenings

Let me share what I did today. I picked up 10-12 bags of smushed pumpkins from the entrance of our neighborhood. Some wonderfully intelligent person or persons decided to steal the pumpkins from all the houses in the neighborhood and then dump them smashed at the entrance to our neighborhood. This is terribly sad to me. I am praying that it was a teenager and that no adult would be in on such a prank, but in this age you never know. So I spent a little over an hour picking up all the pumpkins and bagging them up for the trash man. Boy won't he be happy to reach our home on Monday. Just thought I would share how my Saturday was :O)...but it did get better and I will post about that next week!! Have a peaceful Sunday!!
