Can't get Better than This...
Okay, Fall is here and I am so happy. You can't get better than this. Today is perfect. Sunny, cool all the windows open and the cool breeze is blowing through. We actually put on long pants vs. shorts today. Life is good!!
School has gone well today. I did not get everything done I wanted to do with Jack, but Allison is buzzing right along with her school. Everyone helped out in cleaning today without any complaining. Allison even changed over the laundry without being asked!!
Just wanted to mention that I am loving the fresh air and having a great day!
I am so thankful for days like this!!!

7 Left
For those of you (like me) who need to plan to get Christmas taken care of financially, so that everything doesn't get bought on credit .... this is a little notice....if you got paid today and get paid bi-weekly...there are only 7 pay checks left until Christmas.
YIKES!!!
YIKES!!!
Taking Down the Wall....Part Three
Here is Allison swinging a hammer...
And Jack helping Daddy take the trim off the wall....everyone except Lindsey (she was busy with school & work) helped out with the wall demo....
Almost...
Done for now.... stay tuned for the next segment in a couple of months!!!
This is the last of the pictures I will share. I will tell you we learned so much from doing this one small section. It was lots of fun and we all got into the fun. I even tackled the attic to help hubby with the electrical part. (good to have a b-i-l that has electrical experience).

Cute Christmas Idea
I saw this idea over at Christmas Up North ....I thought it was so cute and would make great stocking stuffers or attached to a gift...
Green Candy Canes with the below poem attached:
When the Grinch discovered
There was no way,
To Keep Christmas from coming
On Christmas day,
He devised a new plan...
Though not quite as mean.
He licked all the candy canes,'
Til he turned them all green.
Remember only 99 more days until Christmas and we need to be keeping these ideas in our minds!!!

Taking Down the Wall....Part One
Kitchen Re-do ... budget style. This will be a Work in Progress for a long time. So with this said lets show you what we started with and hopefully an idea of where we are headed.
First we decided to take down the corner wall of our kitchen to open it up more to the living room for an open floor plan. We took the cabinets off the wall and removed the wall. We pushed the fridge down and then put the cabinets back temporarily. This took us 3 days to complete this part and cost us $73.00.
Next our plan is to take out the door to the deck and put a wall in there. Move the door to the living room where we would replace a window with the door to the deck. Once this is done we can re-connect the cabinets to the wall.

Our next step is to take the cabinets over the stove down and remove that wall 1/2 way to have a full view from the kitchen of the dining room. Then we will place the cabinets on the wall with the fridge and cabinet we already moved.
After we have moved around all the walls and cabinets. We are planning to get Corian counter tops. We will be adding 2 bottom cabinets also.
Next step is to replace the windows in the kitchen with french doors to the future deck (a later project, but we want to go ahead at this point and put them in.
Finally we will re-paint kitchen and dining room and put in hardwood floors upstairs.
How long you ask??? Our goal is 2 years and completely cash out of pocket.
That's all for Part ONE....I will post more pictures tomorrow.

Our latest hiking trip...Ft Mountain
This post is picture heavy...while Jonathan was off ... it was not all work we did manage a day trip to Ft Mountain. We had a picnic and went on 2 hikes. One around the lake and one out to the lookout. It was terribly cloudy, but the rain did hold off!! Like always we missed out dear Lindsey..she had school and was not able to go with us so she missed all the fun!!!

A quote for today...

Funny thing is that I could never decide where I wanted to be, and after all this time I think I am where I would rather be.
If that don't say it all :O) .................Have a great Monday Evening!
What did my husband do with his week off?

Monday Morning Art Project
I have been planning to do small art projects with Jack & Allison every Monday. This week we made coffee filter butterflies. I got the idea from DLTK Craft Website. I absolutely love this site and use it for all kinds of printables.
First we used Crayola's washable markers on the coffee filters.
Then we sprayed the coffee filters with water
After about 30 min they were dry and we took a pipe cleaner and twisted it in the middle for the body and curved the top pieces down for the antennas.
Finally we hung ours up over the curtain rod on our back door so that the light comes through.
This was an easy craft to do with my kiddo's and they both enjoyed it, and I love the memories we are making.
