I am getting excited to start back school in a few weeks.
Allison will be 5th grade and Jack will be pre-pre K. The books are all ordered and most delivered ...Allison schedule is set and the new SOS programs that we are using are loaded on the laptop and we will see how that goes. I am keeping my fingers crossed because this is the first year we are using SOS.
Cleaning up our school room and hopefully getting it painted .... we will see!!!
We have changed our schedule to 6 weeks on 1 week off and hopefully this will give us the breaks we need when we need them :O).
Have a great Tuesday!!!

Hiking Fun 06/27/09
Granny Stella came this weekend when Lindsey came home from her job in Alabama. So we planned a family hiking trip since Jonathan was off from work too. We have been trying to hit the trails at least once a week and this week we headed back to Pine Log Trails.
We packed plenty of water and headed out about 10 AM. Yes it was suppose to reach 103, but us fearless hikers (no laughing) started out the day a little later than planned. We headed out the main trail to the west loop then over to the east loop. We never made it to the lake, one hiker we saw said we were about half way there. So we turned back at 12:30. Keep in mind here that we had Allison 10 and Jack 3 they were pulling there own weight and did a great job. No one really complained and a great time was had by all. Of course we were sweaty nasty people by the end, but it was fun. My best guess is about 3 miles maybe a little more... Jonathan says at least 5 miles but that gets a little farther every time we talk about it.

Enjoy our pictures!!!

Working on our finances
Jonathan and I are working on our finances in part, many Thanks to Dave Ramsey and his teachings.
While I was searching other blogs out there who might be on his plan I found a great site NCN Blog. No Credit Needed blog is a great story of how a family got out of debt by not using credit, and budgeting....this stuff really works and I just eat it up. Also on the NCN Blog you can have a chart that allows you to mark your successes I have signed up for one and can not wait to get working on it. Check out this site, there are great stories and resources available through this site. One of my favorite things to do is to click on the other members charts and see progress...that gets me motivated!!! So Check it out!!!!

Hiking with Allison & Jack
We went up to Pine Log Trail yesterday. Mostly to check it out and find the trails. We were pleasantly surprised by the condition of these trails. They were great! We only hiked about an hour so we did not make the entire loop. From what I understand the East Loop is about 2 hours and next week better prepared with water and such we will try that hike.
My camera's battery was dying so we only got a few shots. We did see a couple of squirrels and about 4 deer. Yes my kids actually stayed quiet enough to see some deer, then another hiker was on the trail with their dog and that was it for seeing deer.

Simple Woman's Day Book

FOR TODAY : Monday, June 15, 2009
Outside my window...Sun is shinning, grass is looking green and freshly cut, summer is here!!
I am thinking...about enjoying today after I get some cleaning done.
I am thankful for...all the Lord has given me.
From the learning rooms...the learning rooms are all quiet...
summer is here, so the learning has gone outside!
From the kitchen...I can smell peanut butter cookies baking...yum yum yum.
I am wearing...my blue t-shirt, denim shorts, and no shoes
I am creating...a little sewing is in the works I will share when I get done
I am going...on another hike with the kiddos to Pine Log this week,
& hopefully at least one picnic to the park.
I am reading... A Cousin's Promise by Wanda Brunstetter
I am hoping...that Lindsey will have a great week at work,
and that we can sell our motorcycle quickly to help save money
I am hearing...Dolly wag her tail against the floor,
& the hum of the ceiling fan in the kitchen
Around the house...I need to finish moving things around in the new storage room,
and take care of a few things in Allison new room.
One of my favorite things... warm peanut butter cookies
A few plans for the rest of the week: taking kids for a hike, a trip to the library,
few bills to pay, & swimming.
Here is picture thought I am sharing...Lighthouse on Tybee Island from our trip to Tybee/Savannah
Come and join us at Peggy's Blog The Simple Woman's Daybook and see what all the other lovely ladies have shared!!
Have a great week!!
